The
original intent of Trump's "trade war" was to supposedly open up the
Chinese market to the US by "leveling the playing field" and making it
easier for US corporations to do business in China and export more
product.
The result will be to close off the Chinese market to US goods and investment and open the Chinese market to US competitors, the exact opposite of what was originally intended.
But, it should be obvious that that was never the real intent. The intent all along has been to try and hobble the Chinese economy and prevent China from developing its technology. Here again the ultimate result will be the exact opposite.
