Jul 10, 2019, 1:13 PM Well, it puts the lie to the common perception that China is this awful place where people are regimented automatons. Of course that is ridiculous but many people in the US actually believe it. Well guess what, it just ain't true. There are just as many flamboyant over the top people in China as in the US and they are not carted off to re-education camps.

Jul 10, 2019, 11:26 AM The point being, not that China abandon HK, that is admitting defeat and handing it back over to the Empire, which will never happen, but that HK has to solve its own problems. The first prerequisite is that HKers accept the fact that HK is not exceptional or indispensable, but an integral part of China. Until the majority does that and isolates the traitors in their midst, HK will become more and more irrelevant.

Jul 10, 2019, 10:38 AM RT Falsely Claims U.S. Uses SWIFT as Weapon polygraph.info What a bullshit headline and what a bullshit website, promoted by Google News 'Fact Check' sidebar. If you read their analysis it's clear that the US does use SWIFT as a weapon in its economic warfare against its self-declared adversaries. The stupid article even admits that, "It may be technically accurate to say the U.S. government does not ‘control’ SWIFT. But the U.S. clearly applies political pressure on the institution and that pressure yields results.” So, yes, the U.S. does use SWIFT as weapon and RT's claim are true not false.

Jul 10, 2019, 12:04 AM Why does new Chinese head of UN food agency feed US suspicion? scmp.com What kind of bogus headline is this? US suspicions? The only one who should be suspect is the US, which never acts as an honest broker, but is always conniving to advance its own interests ahead of anyone else's. Doesn't it say something that support for China's Qu Dongyu was universal among delegates from Africa and Latin America? They know a friend when they see one. Washington, has concern "o ver whether Qu would use China’s position at the FAO’s helm to further the ambitions of the Belt and Road Initiative?" Give me a break, as if the US doesn't use the international agencies it controls to further its own foreign policy goals. And of course all the US can do is impugn Qu's integrity as a last resort. It seems anyone from China is totally beholden to Beijing and has no independence from its dictates. Really? Others don't think ...

Jul 9, 2019, 10:56 PM A Conversation With Chairman Adam Schiff cfr.org Below is an extended excerpt from an interview with Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA),* Chairman, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence * Schiff's comments accurately reflect the opinion of Democrats regarding China. Don't expect any Democrat presidential candidate to offer anything different. When it comes to China the only difference between Democrats and Republicans, progressives, conservat ives, and Trumpsters is tactical, not strategic. Friends of China should have no illusions about where Democrats stand. They are as rabidly anti-China as can be. Their media sycophants at the NYT, WaPo, MSNBC and CNN are as disingenuous and dishonest as FOX and other Trump supporting media. None of this is anything new. We all know it. But it is worth repeating. FEIST: I want to shift gears a little bit, Congressman. I think it’s appropriate, we are here at the Council on Foreign Relati...

Jul 9, 2019, 3:09 PM With Anacho-syndicalists like Chomsky and Hedges, Democratic Socialists like Sanders, et al. and Trotskyites like WSWS occupying the "Left" space in the US there is very little breathing room for true anti-imperialists to get their message across. That is the intent of having a controlled opposition. They're very successful at infiltrating and corrupting left-wing groups and spreading their anti-communist propaganda which interestingly enough is the sane as that of the bourgeois media.

Jul 8, 2019, 7:36 PM The Rules of Revolt truthdig.com Read this article by Hedges extolling the Tiananmen protests on their 25th anniversary in 2014. It is a paean to "color revolutions" and reads like a neo-liberal manifesto. Hedges like many of his ilk accept the Western bourgeois concepts of "human rights" and "democracy" at face value and do not dare to look behind the curtain of US propaganda. They refuse to accept the fact that the US disingenu ously uses the peoples frustrations at certain historic junctures to foment regime change in order to install Western friendly elites that serve the hegemonic rule of Western capital. At best he is an unwitting tool of US imperialism. At worst a conscious agent. https://www.truthdig.com/articles/ the-rules-of-revolt/

Jul 8, 2019, 5:46 PM Today's comment: According to Rep. Seth Moulton, a third tier Democrat presidential candidate, "the greatest enemy of the United States for the last 75 years" has been Russia. This sort of historical clap-trap defines the original sin of the Cold War and its aftermath. Russia, be it as the USSR or the Russian Federation, has never been the greatest enemy of the US. The greatest enemies the US fa ced were Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. In fact, Russia would have much preferred being a friend of the USA. In his assessment however Moulton is not alone, it is the common opinion of nearly all Democrats and Republicans. And it is a lie. The reverse is true. The United States has been the greatest enemy of Russia for the last 75 years. In the 1920s it intervened in the Russian Civil War and targeted the USSR after its establishment, only reversing course during WW2. It was under the Administration of FDR and his 3rd VP Henry A Wallac...

Jul 8, 2019, 3:26 PM Ben Norton and Max Blumenthal take the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) to task, exposing its leadership to consist of a cabal of "deep state" funded "leftists" who serve as a cover for the infiltration of groups purporting to be anti-capitalist. This imperial left has been around for generations and is a mainstay of the "controlled opposition." Better to have benign critics of the establishment like Amy Goodman, Chris Hedges and Naomi Klein who serve as an echo-camber for the anti-communist gospel of US imperialism.

Jul 8, 2019, 2:41 PM The Mulan trailer is a dismal sign Disney is bowing to China's anti-democratic agenda | Jingan Young theguardian.com SMH. SO now the "original" Disney version of Mulan is canon and cannot be tampered with. So if Disney itself changes its "iconic" cartoon character for something that resembles the actual legend its subject to criticism by a mixed up wannabe white girl who longs for the British Crown Colony of HK.

Jul 8, 2019, 12:06 PM Breaking down the BBC’s visit to Hotan, Xinjiang - Sun Feiyang - Medium medium.com They also make an issue out of rote learning which is equated with brainwashing. As any student of Chinese as a second language knows, the only way to learn written Chinese and be literate is by rote. That means copy characters incessantly until they become second nature. I started studying Chinese in my 20s and it took 4 years of intensive instruction to gain a middling level of competence. Th ere are many minority residents from remote areas of Xinjiang who are not fluent or literate in Mandarin Chinese. It is very difficult for them to get the new jobs that are opening up as Xinjiang gets integrated into the BRI. The type of instruction being offered is essential for young Uyghurs to advance and prosper. Otherwise they may well become alienated and susceptible to extremist ideology as a panacea for their isolation from mainstream society. This is...

Jul 7, 2019, 11:45 PM China 2019 - China’s New Pitch to Foreign Business youtube.com Michael Wang is a very sharp, young moderator who asks incisive questions. The panel responds with thoughtful answers. The take away? China is continuing to reform and open up market access to foreign investment, the domestic market is poised to boom as urbanization increases and the service sector expands. The outlook for foreign companies doing business in China will improve significantly with the new foreign investment law, greater access to the growing interior domestic market and China's maturation as a market-oriented economy. All outstanding concerns that foreign companies may have doing business in China will be resolved by the continual natural progression of economic reform and opening up. Furthermore, as stated by one of the panelists, this has nothing to do with external pressure from tariffs, but is a result of the internal dynamic of the reform and openin...

Jul 7, 2019, 6:17 PM Steven Lee || The so-called HK “freedom-fighters” insurrectionists and its China-hating American/Anglo svengalis are, by ANY objective observation, the clear provocateurs and consistent aggressors. China’s exasperating patience with this thuggery is glaringly atypical as no state under any system, would tolerate such attacks on the social order. China appears to be fastidious to a fault to allow the inept HK SAR government to countenance what amounts to increasingly bolder salvos upon China’s sovereignty. Whatever Beijing’s reasoning is behind this extraordinary pacifism one can only conclude it bespeaks of supreme confidence that the seditious surge has a limited life force. This seems to bear out as both the rioting and the western boosterism for it is appearing more absurdly Orwellian as the feckless and bloodied police is threatened with reprisal for its “brutality” and the photo of the vandalized HK legislators’ chambers, with a helmeted, sca...

Jul 7, 2019, 5:51 PM Technology heavyweights deny report they'll shift production out of China - Global Times globaltimes.cn The original intent of Trump's "trade war" was to supposedly open up the Chinese market to the US by "leveling the playing field" and making it easier for US corporations to do business in China and export more product. The result will be to close off the Chinese market to US goods and investment and open the Chinese market to US competitors, the exact opposite of what was originally intended. But, it should be obvious that that was never the real intent. The intent all along has been to try and hobble the Chinese economy and prevent China from developing its technology. Here again the ultimate result will be the exact opposite.

Jul 7, 2019, 9:48 AM Rebecca Chan And I'm sure there are stupid western "leftists" who are cheering them on. I know far too many such people who see students protesting and immediately side with them no matter what. In fact, most student protesters, in Latin American countries with left-wing populist governments, are scions of the upper middle and upper classes who have access to higher education and fear that the lower classes will supplant them if given the opportunity. They are reactionaries through and through. But naive Western "leftists" call them pro-democracy advocates. I've seen this all too often when it comes to their prejudiced attitude towards China.

Jul 7, 2019, 9:32 AM So long as US Imperialism holds sway the path to socialism on a global scale is stymied. The precondition for socialism in the advanced capitalist nations, as well as those developing nations under their control, is the final collapse of the capitalist world order. China is positioning itself to provide the necessary logistical support to hasten the day when US imperialism is finally in the dustbin of history and the wporld's people are free to develop as they see fit.

Trump’s foreign policy is opportunistic, cynical and hypocritical: https://www.presstv.com/Detail/2019/07/ 11/600714/ Trumps-foreign-policy-is-cynical-and-hypo critical **US President Donald Trump’s “foreign policy is ‘transactional,’ which is newspeak for opportunistic, cynical and hypocritical,” says Dennis Etler, an American political analyst who has a decades-long interest in international affairs.** Etler, a retired professor of Anthropology at Cabrill o College in Aptos, California, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Thursday while commenting on a new statement from the US about North Korea. The United States has said it hopes North Korea would freeze its nuclear program, a move that could be the start of a denuclearization process. This comes after President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un had a meeting in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) late in June, during which the two agreed to resume working-level talks following their fai...
