Today's comment: According to Rep. Seth Moulton, a third tier Democrat presidential candidate, "the greatest enemy of the United States for the last 75 years" has been Russia.

This sort of historical clap-trap defines the original sin of the Cold War and its aftermath. Russia, be it as the USSR or the Russian Federation, has never been the greatest enemy of the US. The greatest enemies the US faced were Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. In fact, Russia would have much preferred being a friend of the USA.

In his assessment however Moulton is not alone, it is the common opinion of nearly all Democrats and Republicans. And it is a lie.

The reverse is true. The United States has been the greatest enemy of Russia for the last 75 years. In the 1920s it intervened in the Russian Civil War and targeted the USSR after its establishment, only reversing course during WW2.

It was under the Administration of FDR and his 3rd VP Henry A Wallace that Russia was recognized as an ally that should be retained after the war. Wallace realized that the US and the USSR could remain friends but the deep state of that time would not have it and launched the Cold War.

The Democratic Party never looked back and has been a Party that advocates regime change and war ever since. The Democrats are the originators of the Cold War then and now. Those who tried to move it in a different direction were never thorough going in their efforts. The Democrats are not now and have never been a "peace party."

Of course that is ridiculous but many people in the US actually believe it. Well guess what, it just ain't true. Jul 10, 2019, 11:26 AM The point being, not that China abandon HK, that is admitting defeat and handing it back over to the Empire, which will never happen, but that HK has to solve its own problems. The first prerequisite is that HKers accept the fact that HK is not exceptional or indispensable, but an integral part of China. Until the majority does that and isolates the traitors in their midst, HK will become more and more irrelevant.

The only one who should be suspect is the US, which never acts as an honest broker, but is always conniving to advance its own interests ahead of anyone else's. Doesn't it say something that support for China's Qu Dongyu was universal among delegates from Africa and Latin America? They know a friend when they see one. Washington, has concern "o ver whether Qu would use China’s position at the FAO’s helm to further the ambitions of the Belt and Road Initiative?" Give me a break, as if the US doesn't use the international agencies it controls to further its own foreign policy goals. And of course all the US can do is impugn Qu's integrity as a last resort. It seems anyone from China is totally beholden to Beijing and has no independence from its dictates. Really? Others don't think ...
